This section contains the various gameplay rules you will need as a player. Fans of TTRPG systems such as DnD 5e and Traveller may notice some similarities, but knowledge of these systems is not a requirement.
Keep in mind that these rules are designed to be simple and will not comprehensively cover every possible situation that may occur. That said, here are some universal rules that may help guide you:
1) Have Fun
The most important rule of any TTRPG is that the players, including the GM, are having fun. If there's a change that you think will make the game more fun, discuss it with your GM/Party and implement it!Â
When stuck on how to proceed with a particular mechanic or outcome, the 'rule of cool' suggests you just go with whichever option is the most thematically satisfying to the players.
2) Be Respectful
It's important to ensure that everyone in the game feels comfortable. Be sure to have a frank discussion at the start of your game (sometimes called a "session 0") about what kind of content everyone is comfortable with. Running a game with dark themes or content is perfectly fine, but it helps everyone involved to know the expected tone beforehand.
3) Be Fair
Be sure that all players get a chance to speak and have their voices heard, and try to leave out-of-character (OOC) biases out of your character's decision making. TTRPGs are a collaborative experience where everyone gets to shape the story. Giving an unfair advantage to some players because of personal biases will only serve to alienate your other players and make them feel unwelcome.
